Zigamoist PM II is a natural polysaccharide obtained by fermentation of filamentous fungus. Sclerotium rolfsii is a fungus that grows in the roots of the plants and it produces a membranous scleroglucan; it can increase the water content and prevent the water loss from cells.

Product Stability
How does it define product stability ?
It produces a membranous scleroglucan suitable for preparation of sustained delivery personal care products. The molecular main chain consists of β-1,3 glucose, and the side chain is β-1,6- glucopyranose. Furthermore, due its non-ionic structure, Zigamoist PM II prominently works on increasing stability of the product which is traditionally one most important function of the product. A study by Giga fine Chemicals shows that different concentrations of PM-II added with 1.0% NaCl will also improve the texture and, the viscosity and the flow behavior of the product. PM-II has excellent ion resistance and hence is extremely stable in the monovalent ions or divalent ions which regulates the consistency of the products. When we speak of stability, the foremost consideration is the pH balance of the product and whether or not it affects the formulation. PM-II has acid and alkali resistance and good viscosity stability at different pH values.
